FAQs

How do you pronounce the name “Feve”?

It is pronounced “Fev”, as in the first syllable of the word beverage.  Fève is a French word that means ‘bean’, as in the cacao bean which is the primary ingredient for all our creations.  A feve also refers to the flat, wide disks of chocolate that we use to make our delicious confections.  In France, it is also a tradition for many to celebrate the Epiphany (January 6th) with a galette des rois, or king cake.  The person who receives the slice of galette which includes the fève or bean, is pronounced king or queen for the day.

Where is your factory located?  Is it open for tours?

Our factory is located in the Bayshore district of San Francisco at 2222 Palou Avenue. While we do not give tours per se, you are welcome to stop by during operating hours to see our production and purchase chocolate confections direct from the source.

How long have you been making your confections?

Feve has been producing its unique chocolates and confections in San Francisco since 2007.

Do you have a retail store?

We have a storefront at our artisan factory where you can purchase all of our products that you see online (at www.fevechocolates.com).  In addition, you can see some of our production real-time as it takes place, so coming to our factory storefront is an "experience" that many of our customers love.

Where can I buy Feve products?  Is there a store near me?

Feve chocolates and confections are available in many specialty grocery stores, gift shops, airport locations, and fine restaurants and hotels across the U.S. Email us at sales@fevechocolates.com with your zip code, and we’ll be happy to tell you where they can be purchased. If you know of a store that you’d like to carry our products, let us know that too!

How do I track my online order?

We predominantly use FedEx to ship Feve products across the U.S., and occasionally use UPS.  When we ship your order, you will receive an email with your tracking number which can be used to monitor the progress of your shipment on the internet.

Do you ship internationally?

Unfortunately, we are not able to ship internationally or to Post Office or APO Boxes at this time.  We also do not ship to Alaska and Hawaii.

I ordered late in the week but my order didn't ship until Monday. How come?

Due to the perishable nature of Feve products, we generally ship only on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays to minimize weekend transit time.  That's because we want your Feve chocolates to arrive in as perfect a condition as possible.  If we ship mid-week or later, there's a chance that your order may sit in a hot delivery truck or warehouse over the weekend.  For more information about our shipping methods and policies, click here.

I received an order of Feve Chocolates but don't know who it's from. Can you help?

Probably.  Maybe it was meant to be a surprise or an anonymous gift?  But if we haven’t received explicit instructions to maintain the sender’s privacy, contact us and we’ll be happy to let you know whose generosity was behind it.

What is your return policy?

We inspect our chocolates thoroughly to ensure that every confection leaving our factory is in perfect shape.  But because of the perishable nature of our product, we are unable to provide refunds or exchanges for product that is lost, damaged, or arrives melted due to weather or temperature extremes.  If you receive a Feve product that is defective or spoiled, we want to hear about it.  Please call us at 415-813-6000, or send an email to sales@fevechocolates.com, and provide your name, contact information, order number, and date and place where your Feve product was purchased so we can contact you and follow up.

How should I store my Feve Products once I've received them? Should I refrigerate them?

Feve chocolates are best consumed within 1-2 weeks of leaving our factory for peak taste and freshness.  Ideally, they should be stored at a temperature of around 60-63 degrees Fahrenheit, but can be stored at room temperature so long as they are kept away from sunlight, moisture and cooking odors that might damage the product.  We do not recommend refrigerating our products as this can cause fat or sugar “bloom” to occur that creates a whitish coating on the chocolate surface, which is not harmful in any way but may detract from the appearance.

What is the shelf life of your products?

Since we use natural ingredients and flavors without stabilizers, fillers or compounds, our chocolate collections, truffles, and praline bars have a six-week shelf life - except our sea salt caramels where the shelf life is up to six months (because of the caramelizing).  All of our nut products, orange peel, and Feve bars have a shelf life of six months.

Do your products contain fillers or artificial ingredients?

Our chocolates do not contain fillers or artificial ingredients.  We use natural ingredients and try to source them locally and from organic sources in the San Francisco Bay Area whenever we can.  We tend to be somewhat purist about this, as we think it sets the tastes of our chocolates apart.  For example, the wildflower honey and lavender in our Honey Lavender truffles are harvested by us from our own beehives and lavender field on the extreme Sonoma Coast of California, less than 2 hours from our factory.

Do you use peanuts or other types of nuts in your factory?

Yes.  Some of our chocolates contain nuts or nut butters, and these confections are made on the same equipment as our chocolates without nuts.  Therefore, even though we constantly clean our production facility, if you have a severe peanut or nut allergy, we recommend that you do not consume our products or visit our production facility.

Where do you source your chocolate from? Is it fair-trade sourced?

We source our chocolate from a variety of sources including Valrhona Chocolate from France, Felchlin Chocolate from Switzerland, and our own proprietary blends.  You can view information about their fair trade and sustainability practices on their respective websites at https://inter.valrhona.com/en and https://www.felchlin.com/en.

Do you offer discounts or free product to charities?

We are proud to work with a variety of bonafide, non-profit charities through discounted product sales and annual donations.  Typically we consider such proposals at the end of the year, so we can make informed, thoughtful decisions about the year ahead.  If you represent a charitable organization and have an upcoming event that you would like to be considered for such a donation, please send us information about your organization and the event to sales@fevechocolates.com and we will gladly consider it.

Do you sell my email address or other personal information to third parties?
